If you are behind on rent, and you applied for emergency rental assistance, you may be temporarily protected from eviction for nonpayment of rent while your application is pending with the rental assistance provider, but no later than September 30, 2022.
DO NOT miss your eviction court date, even if you believe your eviction should not be moving forward.
You must show your landlord or the court documentation that verifies your application for emergency rental assistance before or after your first appearance in court. You may send a copy or a photo of the documentation to your landlord by email or by text message.
You MUST apply for emergency rental assistance before June 30, 2022. Apply here or dial 211.
If you qualify, you can be protected until September 30, 2022 when the law expires.
